1991

Stinnes AG acquires a majority stake in Schenker from the German railroad company Deutsche Bundesbahn.

1989

Company decides to introduce SWORD (Schenker’s Worldwide Online Realtime Data Network) and EDIFACT standards.

Schenker & Co. is founded by Gottfried Schenker.

New business areas: Schenker International, Logistics, and Eurocargo.

Jochen Thewes

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Jochen Thewes, born in 1971, has been Chairman of the Management Board of Schenker AG since September 1, 2015. Jochen is the go-to person when it comes to supply chains and logistics. He brings vast experience in various key markets to the table – such as Asia, North and South America, and Europe.

Christian Drenthen

Member of the Board of Management for Land Transport

Christian Drenthen has been a member of the Management Board for Global Land Transport at Schenker AG since January 1, 2019. Christian, originally from the Netherlands, has a degree in logistics and has been with Schenker AG since 2015. Before this, he worked for logistics companies such as FedEx and Unilever.

Christa Koenen

Member of the Board of Management (CIO/CDO)

Christa Koenen has been a member of the Management Board for Information Technology and Digitalization (CIO/CDO) since September 1, 2021. She is an experienced executive and has already worked in various units of the DB Group. Christa holds a degree in Economics and a Master of Business Administration.

Thorsten Meincke

Member of the Board of Management for Air and Ocean Freight

Thorsten Meincke has been a member of the Management Board for Global Air and Ocean Freight at Schenker AG since June 1, 2019. He previously worked for Kuehne + Nagel and Militzer & Muench, as well as Arthur Andersen. Thorsten, born and raised in Hamburg, holds a master’s degree in Macroeconomics from his hometown university.

Jakob Wegge-Larsen

Member of the Board of Management (CFO)

Jakob Wegge-Larsen has been a member of the Management Board as Chief Financial Officer since March 1, 2023. Jakob, who is originally from Denmark, has started his career in EY and since then he has gained extensive international experience in different positions at MSC and Maersk. Jakob holds an MBA from Henley Business School in the UK.
